The dreamcast and the gamecube are barely 5 yrs apart yet the hoops you need to jump thru to get a dc online nowadays to play pso on this server are such a expensive pain and require bigtime computer know how, while the GC only really needs a modem adapter or broadband adpter?

If you are lucky to have a BBA for your dreamcast and an original copy of PSO you can use the boot CD to connect.
The issue with Dreamcast is that you need to patch codes to bypass he HL license check, while on GC you just point the DNS to an other ip.

The best combo for Dreamcast is PSOV2 US version as it's BBA support is fully implemented.

If you go with the worse setup possible, you will need the CodeBreaker disk, enter the proper patch code, have a phone line setup with a raspbery PI as modem to internet proxy.
